The Marine Corps League is...
Whether you are a Marine, FMF Sailor, family member, or supporter, we thank you for coming to our website.
The Marine Corps League was founded in 1923 by World War I Veteran of Belleau Wood, Commandant of the Marine Corps, then Major General John A. Lejeune. On August 4, 1937, the U.S. Congress Congressionally Chartered the organization as a Veteran Service Organization. It maintains a 501c4 non-profit status with the Internal Revenue Service with special tax exemption.
Our History
In 2010 when Marine Michael Brewer and his family moved to Apple Valley, Ca from Tucson, he learned there was no local Marine Corps League to transfer to from the Tucson Detachment where he had been a member since 1985. Having recently reunited with his former sergeant Robert Boytor whom he served in Vietnam with in the 7th Marines, they elected to launch the Apple Valley Marine Corps. League in early 2011. The McDonalds near Jess Ranch graciously offered a private room for the first round of meetings. The Daily Press ran a series of public service announcements and recruiting was underway.
In six months there were 32 Charter members of the new League. On September 20, 2011 the Apple Valley Marine Corps League was chartered by the National Marine Corps League and assigned the designation of Detachment 1383. The State of California Marine Corps League officials came to formally grant the Charter, indicating that the Apple Valley Detachment was formed in the shortest time of any California
Detachment. The name changed to Victor Valley Marine Corps League to reflect a broader demographic.
